Thinking about having your Newborn Photoshoot at Home? Let me tell you why it is a great idea.

So you’re pregnant, maybe its your first baby, maybe its your second, or third! But you're considering having some photos taken to document this new season of your life. If you haven’t had a photoshoot before this can feel very overwhelming, trying to decide where to have it, what to wear and who to book.
The main two options you need to consider are either a Studio Newborn Photoshoot, or a photoshoot that is held within the comfort of your own home.
Each option has a completely different style and its important that you think about what you are wanting out of your photoshoot, how you envision the images, where you plan on displaying them and if you want to be in the photographs or if you are only wanting to capture your baby.
In-home newborn photography lends itself well to you, your partner and other children being heavily involved in the photos. Studio Photography is more highly posed and tends to be more baby-focussed.
When you have your newborn photoshoot at home you don’t need to think about trying to pack up your baby (other children) and get out the house and to a studio on time. Those first few weeks of having a newborn baby can be incredibly overwhelming, and leaving the house can feel like a mammoth task. By having your photographer come to you, you can focus on getting yourself ready without the added stress of getting out of the house.
I know what you're thinking, but I have to get my house in order! Clean and tidy it! And no, the right photographer will understand a little mess and clutter. When I come over to your home, I will happily help tidy up whatever room or area we will be using, as long as you don’t mind me moving bits around!
In-home newborn photoshoots tend to be more relaxed, they are baby-led and less posed. You can cuddle, rock and feed your baby in a space that they, and you, feel safe in. These types of photoshoots focus on the emotion and connection between you and your baby. If you have other children, having your photoshoot at home means that they can dip in and out. If they lose interest, they are in their own space and can play or watch TV while we focus on you and your baby.
Perhaps the best reason (in my opinion!) to have your newborn photoshoot at home, is that the resulting images capture you in your space, the place you will likely spend days, weeks, months and even years raising your children. From lazy days cluster-feeding on the sofa to chasing your crawling baby around the kitchen, this is the space that is most intimately and uniquely you. When you look back at your photographs in the years to come, you will immediately be taken back to that space, that familiar space, that feels like home.

Whatever shoot you choose to go for, my biggest piece of advice, is to research. Research photographers, look at their photography style as well as their editing style and make sure that you choose someone whose work really speaks to you.
If that photographer is me, then yay! I would love to work with you! Get in touch below and lets chat!
Years from now, you wont just see these photographs- you will feel them.
